Presciosa Derro is a licensed social worker from the Philippines who has more than 15 years of extensive work involving children’s rights and protection with street and working children, managing a peacebuilding and conflict mediation/transformation program, assisting coordination works in humanitarian response and recovery, and facilitating disaster risk reduction and development planning in disaster and conflict-affected areas in the Philippines. She has worked with local and national NGOs, INGOs and the UNOCHA during these years and was involved in developing proposals, designing and implementing projects/programs funded by CAFOD, CORDAID, GIZ/DED, UNHCR and UNICEF.
Most recently she has been a social work consultant and adviser with Just Project International (JPI)’s projects in the Philippines and Myanmar/Thailand borders, which focus on rescuing children from trafficking and providing education and protection program for the Karen children in the borders of Myanmar and Thailand and in the conflict-affected areas in Mindanao, Philippines. Presciosa holds a Master in Teaching in Social Work (MTSW) degree through the Social Work Education Program (SWEP) of the Catholic University of America in Washington DC) in the Philippines and holds a diploma of Urban Management Tools for Climate Change of the Institute for Housing and Development Studies, Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She is currently an Erasmus Mundus scholar in Lincoln University in UK, completing her master study in Advanced Development in Social Work.
